Senator Ede Dafinone on Monday commissioned the Students’ Union Government (SUG) Relaxation Centre at the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE), praising the project as a clear reflection of innovation, dedication, and purposeful leadership by the students.
The facility was completed by the 13th SUG administration under the leadership of Comrade Edemakiota Etiosa Oghenemaro. Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the senator described the project as a strong example of the student leaders’ commitment to improving campus life and promoting student welfare.
Senator Dafinone recalled that the SUG executives had visited him about two months earlier to appreciate his contributions to the university, including the ongoing construction of an ultra-modern 50-bedroom hostel at FUPRE. He noted that it was during that visit that the students invited him to formally commission their projects.
Reaffirming his support for youth-driven initiatives, the senator emphasized that investing in student welfare and leadership development remains vital to the overall growth of educational institutions. He commended both the SUG leadership and the broader student community for successfully delivering the project, describing their effort as motivating and worthy of praise.
The newly commissioned SUG Relaxation Centre is expected to boost students’ recreational experience on campus and further complement FUPRE’s ongoing infrastructural development efforts.
