Senator Ede Dafinone, who represents the Delta Central Senatorial District, has extended his congratulations to His Royal Majesty, Major General Felix Mujakperuo (Rtd), CFR, Orhue I, the Orodje of Okpe Kingdom, following the successful groundbreaking of the Orodje Sub-Palace in Sapele.
Dafinone, in a statement on Sunday stated that the historic event marks a major milestone in the preservation of Okpe history, culture, and traditional institutions, while reaffirming the continued significance of the Orodje stool as a symbol of unity, authority, and continuity for the Okpe people. He specifically praised the strategic decision to site the Sub-Palace in Sapele, describing it as a thoughtful and forward-looking move that reflects a strong grasp of history and governance.
The senator noted that the establishment of the Sub-Palace strengthens its role as a key traditional and administrative institution, stressing that it represents more than just a physical edifice. Rather, he said, it serves as a powerful affirmation of identity, legitimacy, and cultural heritage for both present and future generations.
Dafinone further подчеркed the deep historical significance of the Sub-Palace, stating that it reinforces the overlordship of the Orodje of Okpe Kingdom as the sole recognised traditional ruler in Sapele and throughout Okpe land. He added that the renewal of the Sub-Palace helps consolidate the documented historical foundations of Okpe traditional authority and ensures its preservation within Nigeria’s national consciousness.
