A strong sense of excitement filled Abraka in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State as large crowds gathered to take advantage of a free medical outreach organised by Senator Ede Dafinone, who represents Delta Central.
The senator also used the event to drum up support for President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
The programme, held on Friday, at the Ejeta Primary Health Care Centre, drew hundreds of residents, including members of the university community. They welcomed the medical team with cheers and enthusiasm, reflecting both the pressing need for healthcare services and their gratitude for the initiative.
Represented by his aides, Chief Jemu Salubi and Mr. Henry Esiri, Senator Dafinone explained that the outreach is part of his ongoing efforts to make healthcare more accessible, especially for vulnerable constituents who cannot afford medical care.
He also stressed the importance of continued backing for both the federal and state governments, noting that cooperation between President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori would fast-track development and improve people’s standard of living.
His aides added that the outreach, which has already reached four local government areas in the district, is designed to close the gap in healthcare access, particularly at a time of rising medical costs and limited infrastructure.
During the exercise, medical personnel provided consultations, treated various health conditions, and distributed free medications and reading glasses. Patients needing specialised care were referred to higher-level health facilities.
They further explained that the initiative reflects Dafinone’s broader legislative focus on healthcare as a key driver of human development and social welfare. They also pointed to his contributions to the sector, including the upgrade and equipping of health facilities, alongside efforts in education, youth empowerment, and job creation across Delta Central.
Beneficiaries at the event expressed deep appreciation, describing the outreach as both timely and impactful given the current economic realities. Many also pledged their continued support for the senator, voicing confidence in his leadership and hope for more developmental initiatives in the district.
