The Recording Academy, the body behind the GRAMMY Awards, has officially announced that Nigerian Afrobeats star Davido is now a voting member ahead of the 2026 ceremony.
In this new role, the Feel hitmaker will have the opportunity to take part in both the nomination and final voting stages, joining a global community of music professionals who help shape one of the world’s most prestigious music honors.
The Recording Academy shared the news on Instagram on Tuesday, posting a video that featured Davido along with other newly inducted voting members.
The caption read: “Crafting a song or album requires passion, time, and commitment. ✨ That’s why Recording Academy members like #Davido, #ravynlenae, #offsetyrn, #jessiereyez, #zacbrownband, #anneakikomeyers, #miles.minnick, #mayaelizabethmusic, #damiensneed, #damarismusica, and #stewart_copeland are speaking up about why your involvement is so important.”
Davido, who earned three GRAMMY nominations in 2024, joins the Academy at a time when it’s broadening its membership to embrace greater diversity especially by including more African and international artists.
