Renowned Afrobeats artist D’banj has unveiled plans for a collaborative tour alongside fellow music icons 2Baba and Timaya. This announcement was made during a recent conversation on Adesope Live in London, United Kingdom.
Looking back on the growth of Afrobeats, the singer of “Oliver Twist” emphasized how the genre has transitioned from a rising West African sound in the 2000s and early 2010s—when he and his contemporaries led the charge—to a global sensation.
D’banj noted that this international success is attributed not only to the dedication of artists and industry pioneers but also to the steadfast support from the African diaspora.
He mentioned, “I had a conversation with Timaya recently, and he told me, ‘Banger, you’ve done enough as an entrepreneur. It’s time to make a comeback.’ I echoed that sentiment. I’m also in talks with 2Face, who suggested we embark on a tour together.

“I’ll also be releasing a new track with 2Face soon called ‘Feeling Good.’ I want to thank those who have been patiently waiting. I believe this will be the theme of the tour—an expression of gratitude. When I reflect on the past 20 years…
“Nowadays, everyone is embracing Afrobeats, and the African identity is gaining recognition. I recall a time in London when it wasn’t looked upon positively to declare oneself Nigerian.
We all aspired to identify with Jamaica back then, as everyone gravitated toward its culture. Therefore, for us Africans to emerge as the new pop scene is indeed significant.
“Currently, it seems there isn’t a UK film I’ve encountered that doesn’t feature our music. So, a huge shoutout goes not just to the creators but to the entire community [African diaspora].”
This forthcoming tour is set to celebrate the legacy of Afrobeats, bringing together three of its most impactful pioneers for an unforgettable musical event. Fans can also look forward to D’banj and 2Baba’s upcoming collaboration, “Feeling Good,” as a precursor to the eagerly awaited tour.
