Delta State Governor, Right Honourable Sheriff Oborevwori, has charged media practitioners and leaders to leverage Artificial Intelligence in shaping effective communication strategies for development.
Governor Oborevwori stated this at the closing ceremony of the Delta State Communication Workshop, DELCOM 2025.
Governor Oborevwori said communication in today’s world must align with modern technology to achieve better results as Artificial Intelligence has become a vital tool in public relations, reputation management, and leadership communication.
Represented by the Director General of the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency, Chief Patrick Ukah, the Governor expressed optimism that the workshop would help participants sharpen their communication skills to promote the MORE Agenda of the present administration.
The Director General of the Delta State Orientation and Communication Bureau, and convener of the workshop, Dr. Fred Oghenesivbe, said communication practitioners must keep pace with global digital trends while maintaining their creativity and originality. Dr. Oghenesivbe revealed that the training has sharpened the understanding of communication experts in the State.
Also speaking, resource persons Professor Joyce Ogwezi and Professor Presley Obukoadata, commended the initiative, noting that the training has broadened participants’ understanding of Artificial Intelligence and its impact on strategic communication.
Some participants expressed appreciation to the convener and described the workshop as an eye-opener that will help them embrace technology for personal and professional growth.
The three-day workshop, themed “Strategic Communication in the Digital Age: Leveraging Artificial Intelligence and Digital Tools for Effective Leadership,” featured the induction of new members into the Chartered Institute of Information and Strategy Management and presentation of awards to deserving individuals and organizations as well as certificates to participants.
