The Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Olorogun) Arthur Akpowowo, has been recognised by the Supreme Students’ Senate of Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, with a Legislative Award of Honour for his service, representation, and support for student development.

The award was formally presented on Sunday, November 30, 2025, during a courtesy visit to the lawmaker’s residence in Eku. The SSS President, Ebireri Faith Oghenemarho, led the delegation, accompanied by senior student-parliament members including Sen. Edoja Chinedu Nelson of the Faculty of Science.

Speaking during the presentation, Oghenemarho commended Akpowowo for what she described as his unwavering commitment to credible lawmaking, responsible representation of Ethiope East Constituency, and consistent encouragement of student-driven initiatives.

She explained that the honour was unanimously endorsed by the Senate to acknowledge the Deputy Speaker’s contributions to youth advancement and his responsiveness to issues affecting the DELSU community.

In his response, Akpowowo thanked the student parliamentarians for the recognition, describing it as both humbling and motivating.

He noted that the award reinforces his dedication to good governance, empowerment of young people, and the continuous prioritisation of educational development in Delta State.

He also encouraged the students to remain engaged, informed, and active in issues that shape their future.

Akpowowo, who currently serves as Deputy Speaker, has been widely acknowledged for his legislative contributions and his active engagement with constituents, particularly in areas of education and youth development.
