The grand finale of the much-celebrated Ofugara Peace and Unity Cup 2025 is set to take center stage on Sunday, November 16, at the Okotogbo Primary School Field, Effurun, where Delta All-Stars International will square off against Ijaw Ex-Professionals All-Stars in what promises to be a thrilling battle for glory.
The annual football tournament, which has continued to promote peace, unity, and community development through sport, has drawn widespread attention for its unique blend of competition and camaraderie among retired football players and business leaders across Delta State.
Powered by Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited and the Ofugara Family, under the coordination of Silva Ofugara, the 2025 edition has been hailed as one of the most competitive in recent years, featuring intense knockout rounds and an impressive display of talent.
In the semi-final encounters that decided the finalists, Delta All-Stars International advanced after a nervy 4–2 penalty shootout win over Uvwvie All-Stars, following a goalless draw in regulation time. Earlier, Ijaw Ex-Professionals All-Stars booked their place in the final after edging Ubeji All-Stars 2–1 on penalties, in a pulsating encounter that ended 2–2 at full-time.
Speaking after the semi-final fixtures, fans and organizers alike commended the spirit of sportsmanship and discipline that characterized the matches, noting that the tournament has lived up to its purpose of using football as a unifying force in the state.
This year’s edition also comes with an unprecedented ₦25 million prize pool, with ₦10 million earmarked for the champions, ₦7 million for the runners-up, ₦5 million for third place, and ₦3 million for the fourth-placed team, alongside consolation prizes for other participants.
