In a renewed effort to combat human trafficking and irregular migration, the Delta State Taskforce on Human Trafficking has announced dedicated phone lines and email addresses for victims and concerned citizens to report suspected cases.
The taskforce, chaired by the State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Ekemejero Owhovoriole, SAN, stressed that the identity of whistleblowers and victims will be protected, noting that safeguarding informants is central to the success of the campaign. “Bringing traffickers to justice is impossible without reports from the public. Every piece of information could save a life,” he said.
He called on residents to report any suspected case of trafficking, including incidents linked to illegal adoption or the sale of infants. Citizens may also visit the taskforce secretariat located at the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, Ministry of Justice, No. 26B Ogbolu Onuwka Street (SSS Road), Asaba, for immediate intervention.
Owhovoriole, SAN, released the contacts on Friday, assuring the public of prompt action once reports are received. Members of the public are urged to call 08155575495 or 07011862904, or send emails to taskforceonhumantrafficking@deltastate.gov.ng and dtstaskforceonhumantrafficking@gmail.com.
The move, according to the Attorney-General, aligns with the state government’s zero-tolerance policy on trafficking and represents part of ongoing measures to clamp down on offenders while providing support to survivors.
