The Delta State House of Assembly on Thursday, has commenced the second edition of its management retreat of the 8th Assembly.
The second edition themed, “Parliamentary Administration and Management for Effective and Efficient Service Delivery,” held at Spring Hill Hotel, Asaba Delta State, is designed to strengthen the capacity of the Assembly’s staff and promote a vibrant legislature that drives sustainable development.
The leadership of the House partnered with the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), a body dedicated to providing training and support services for legislative development.

Speaking during the event, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor encouraged the management staff to see the retreat as an opportunity for strategic and innovative thinking, focused on delivering value-added services within the legislative bureaucracy.
He emphasized that the retreat is dear to his heart, as top management staff represent the engine room of the legislative structure. According to him, equipping them with enhanced skills is essential for ensuring high-quality service delivery.
Representing the NILDS Director General, Dr. John Olanrewaju, Consultant, DTIC, NILDS, stated that the retreat was specifically designed to enhance the competencies of the Delta State House of Assembly’s management staff and deepen their understanding of parliamentary procedures and administrative dynamics.

Earlier, the Clerk of the House, Mr. Otto Aghoghophia, expressed gratitude to the Speaker, saying, “You have consistently demonstrated a commitment to building the capacity of the Assembly’s bureaucracy through ongoing staff training and development.”
Participants further expressed their appreciation to the Guwor-led 8th Assembly for prioritizing capacity building of its work force.
