The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Udu constituency in the March 18, 2023, Delta State House of Assembly elections, Chief Jite Brown, has consoled his supporters to take the Court of Appeal judgement in the matter which went against him, in good faith.
Jite Brown who is presently the Chairman, Udu Local Government Area, said he has accepted the judgement in good faith.
He called for sustained calm among his supporters urging them to remain focused despite the court judgement delivered in Abuja that favoured the candidate of the All Progressives Congress.
This was contained in a statement signed personally by Chief Jite Brown, copies of which were made available to journalists in Warri, Delta State on Tuesday.
Recall that the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja last Saturday delivered judgement in favour of Collins Ovie Egbetamah, the APC candidate that contested with Jite Brown.
He had earlier secured victory at the Election Petition Tribunal that sat in Asaba.
The PDP House of Assembly candidate stated that since power comes from God, he has decided not to question the decision of the judges but to give thanks in every situation, no matter how unpleasant it may appear.
He however disclosed that his team of lawyers are presently analyzing the Appeal Court judgement to interpret the decision of the judges.
According to him, the essence of interpreting the judgement was to further enrich his knowledge of electoral matters.
He therefore enjoined his supporters across the state and especially within the local government area to remain calm, focused, and unwavering in their support for him saying “There are still a lot of greater opportunities that would present itself in the future where I can serve you better”.
The statement read partly, “We have fought a good fight and exhausted all the legal means provided in the Constitution to reclaim our mandate but God is the one that gives power and we cannot question Him when things are not working the way we expected.
“The Court of Appeal judges have made their decision and I have instructed my legal team to study the judgement so as to guide us subsequently in any electoral issues like this and I have decided to accept and take this outcome in good faith, in the interest of peace and development of Udu Local Government Area.
“I therefore want to encourage my teeming supporters within and outside the Udu council area to remain calm, focused and unwavering in their support as greater opportunities to serve them better could present themselves at any level of governance.”
