Delta Assembly journalists laud Speaker Guwor for festive support

Journalists covering the Delta State House of Assembly have commended the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, for his consistent generosity and respect towards the media during the festive season.

The appreciation was voiced at a convivial get-together hosted by the Speaker’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Nkem Nwaeke, at his Asaba residence. Members of the Assembly Press Corps gathered to celebrate the upcoming Christmas and New Year.

Welcoming the journalists, Nwaeke expressed gratitude for their dedicated and balanced coverage of the Speaker and the House.

He said Guwor was satisfied with their professionalism in projecting the legislative arm.

“The Speaker has repeatedly expressed his appreciation for your professionalism and dedication. As his Chief Press Secretary, I assure you that I will continue to carry everyone along and sustain this synergy for the overall good of the Assembly,” Nwaeke stated.

Recalling his days as a journalist with Delta Broadcasting Service, where he covered Government House and the Assembly, Nwaeke pledged to serve as a bridge between the Speaker’s office and the press.

“Having walked this path as a reporter, I understand the challenges. I am committed to ensuring that no one is left behind and that our relationship thrives on mutual respect and cooperation,” he added.

He commended the journalists for their resilience and expressed optimism for the profession’s future.

The corps leader, Mr. Andrew Ikehi of The Pointer Newspaper, praised Guwor for valuing the media as partners in democratic governance.

“Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor has consistently demonstrated that he values the media as partners in progress. His encouragement and support have boosted our morale and strengthened our resolve to discharge our duties professionally,” Ikehi said.

Other members, including Emmanuel Okoro (DRTV Cameraman), Mercy Neme (News Agency of Nigeria), Franklin Igrigri (DBS Asaba Cameraman), and Favour Okafor (DBS Asaba Reporter), thanked Guwor for his ongoing support.

They prayed for God’s strength, wisdom, and guidance for the Speaker.

Speakers also lauded Nwaeke for his teamwork and unifying role, while praising his wife, Mrs. Mary Efekhoba Nwaeke, for her warmth, support, and hospitality.

The event ended with feasting, laughter, and goodwill, strengthening ties between the Assembly and the media.
