Delta Assembly marks 2nd anniversary with novelty match, thanksgiving

Delta State House of Assembly is set to celebrate another significant milestone as the House marks the 2nd anniversary of the 8th Assembly.

To commemorate this achievement, the Assembly, ably led by the Speaker, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, who represents Warri South West Constituency in the House, has planned two exciting events for the celebration.

Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, CPS, Nkem Nwaeke, in a statement, entitled “Celebrating Unity and Service”, said the Lawmakers will face off against Members of the Delta State Executive Council in a novelty football match, at Stephen Keshi’s Stadium in Asaba, this Saturday, 21 June 2025.

The CPS explained that the novelty football match is to further promote unity, teamwork, healthy competition and camaraderie amongst critical stakeholders in the Delta State Project.

Nwaeke disclosed that by the next day, Sunday, 22nd June 2025, the Speaker will lead members of the 8th Assembly on a special benediction service at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Region 34 Headquarters, Unity Model Parish, behind Junior Staff Quarters, Asaba.

The CPS said the thanksgiving, scheduled for 10am, and expected to be graced by dignitaries from far and near, will climax with a reception for guests, immediately after, at the Legislators’ Quarters, Okpanam Road, Asaba.

Nwaeke noted that the Special Praise and Worship programme will afford the Lawmakers the opportunity to express gratitude to God for two years of service and dedication to the people of Delta State.
