Delta Assembly Reiterates Commitment to Enhancing Security, Promises Legislative Backing for NSCDC

The Chairman of the Delta State House of Assembly Committee on Peace and Security, Hon. (Dr.) Isaac Anwuzia, has reaffirmed the Legislature’s commitment to providing strong legislative support and effective oversight to boost the efficiency of security agencies in Delta State.

Hon. Anwuzia, representing Aniocha South Constituency, made this assurance while leading members of the Committee on an oversight visit to the Delta State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Asaba, part of ongoing engagements with security agencies across the state.

He highlighted that the 8th Delta State House of Assembly has passed numerous bills and motions designed to strengthen the state’s peace and security framework, stressing that the Legislature remains determined to safeguard the lives and property of all Deltans.

Joined by Hon. Emmanuel Sinebe and Hon. Festus Utuama, Dr. Anwuzia praised the NSCDC for its consistent efforts in maintaining peace, protecting critical infrastructure, and promoting community safety. He encouraged the Command to adopt more tactical, intelligence-driven strategies, enhance collaboration with other agencies, and strengthen preventive measures against emerging security threats.

In response, the Delta State Commandant of the NSCDC, Mr. Chinedu Igbo, thanked the Committee for the visit and for the continued partnership between the Corps and the Legislature. He updated the lawmakers on the Corps’ current operations, achievements, and challenges, while appealing for greater institutional and stakeholder support to strengthen the Command’s capacity to secure the state. The visit, which included a mutual exchange of souvenirs, highlighted the shared commitment of the Legislature and security agencies to maintaining peace, stability, and coordinated security governance in Delta State.
