The people of Kiagbodo, alongside residents of the neighbouring Bikoroba community, have restated their support for the administrations of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, assuring them of continued loyalty as they look forward to more development projects in the area.
The assurance was given at an end-of-year and Christmas celebration held in Kiagbodo and hosted by the Delta State Commissioner for Riverine Infrastructure Development, Chief Ebikeme Clark.
The colourful event drew a large turnout of residents from Ward 8, Kiagbodo, who gathered at the traditional grounds of the Ngbilebiri-Mein people to warmly receive the commissioner in an atmosphere of joy and festivity.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Clark called on the people to remain steadfast in their support for both the federal and state governments, stressing that meaningful development flourishes in communities that cooperate with government policies and programmes. He noted that in less than two years in office, Governor Oborevwori has initiated and executed several projects across Delta State, including the ongoing construction of the Kiagbodo Technical College, renovation of primary and secondary schools, supply of desks, tables and chairs, as well as the award of contracts for radial roads within the ward.
He added that the state government remains committed to completing key infrastructure such as the Ayakoroma Bridge, which he described as crucial to improving connectivity and stimulating economic activities in the area.
The commissioner also encouraged eligible residents to take part in the ongoing voter registration exercise to enable them play active roles in the democratic process.
As part of the Christmas festivities, Chief Clark donated four cows to the four quarters of Kiagbodo community and one cow to Bikoroba community, a gesture that was met with loud applause and appreciation. He explained that while the president and governor could not visit every community in person, such gestures were intended to reflect their goodwill and solidarity with the people.
During a seminar at the event with the theme “Season of Celebration of Peace,” the Pastor-in-Charge of IOC’s CJ Chapel of Grace Area, Pastor Joy Ayanho, described Christmas as a season defined by love, peace and generosity.
She praised Chief Clark for his benevolence, noting that the initiative brought happiness and relief to widows, the elderly and other vulnerable members of the community. Several community leaders also addressed the gathering, including the APC Chairman of Ward 8, Chief Julius Asiru; representatives of the Kiagbodo Elders Forum; and the community chairman, represented by the assistant secretary.
They commended the commissioner for what they termed effective representation and reaffirmed their support for the APC-led governments of President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori.
Some widows who benefited from the outreach expressed gratitude, saying the celebration eased their burdens and brought joy at a time of widespread economic hardship.
One of the highlights of the end-of-year party was the distribution of bags of Christmas rice to widows, elderly women and children by the commissioner’s wife, Mrs. Sandra Ebikeme Clark, adding warmth and colour to the festive celebration.
