Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, Onoriode Oborevwori, has reaffirmed the state’s preparedness to host a successful National Youth Games (NYG) from August 26 to September 6.
Speaking during a meeting with the Main Organizing Committee (MOC) and Directors of Sports from different states, he emphasized that Delta is always ready to host both national and international sporting events.
Mr. Oborevwori, however, pointed out that the state would not be able to provide facilities for Deaf Sports, Beach Volleyball, Powerlifting, Baseball, and Softball. He explained that these events were added too late for proper preparation and urged the National Sports Commission (NSC) to consider removing them from the program.
In the meantime, representatives from various state sports councils, including directors, coaches, and association secretaries, carried out an inspection of the selected venues. They expressed that Delta State seems mostly prepared to host the NYG events.
