The wife of the Delta State Governor and founder of the You Matter Charity Foundation, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, has awarded scholarships to visually impaired students and provided members of the blind community with food items and assistive devices.
The gesture was part of the foundation’s outreach programme, “Mission to the Visually Impaired,” which took place on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, in Asaba.
During the event, Deaconess Oborevwori explained that the initiative aimed to show love and support to individuals with visual impairments while promoting inclusivity through education, empowerment, and care.
She noted that the You Matter Charity Foundation has continued to assist children with autism, special needs, and visual impairments by offering educational and vocational materials to boost their learning and self-confidence.
In her welcome address, the Director General of the You Matter Charity Foundation, Mrs. Lawrentta Ogbedo, described the event as a reflection of the foundation’s strong commitment to inclusivity and social justice. She emphasized that the outreach underscores every individual’s right to belong and contribute meaningfully to the growth of society.
Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori closed the event with words of encouragement inspired by 3 John 1:2, reminding the beneficiaries that their physical limitations do not define their purpose. “Even if your sight is limited, your vision of hope brings light and joy to the world. Don’t be discouraged keep pushing for the best,” she said.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Angela Ekure, a visually impaired broadcaster with the Delta State Broadcasting Service, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the governor’s wife for her generosity and compassion.
She noted that it was the first time the visually impaired community in Delta State had received such significant attention from a First Lady, describing the scholarships and donations as truly life-changing gestures that would greatly ease their academic and financial burdens.
