The First Lady of Delta State, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori hosted an end-of-year banquet for wives of traditional rulers across the state Friday December 5, 2025 at the Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba, with a strong call on them to intensify efforts in preserving cultural heritage and tackling societal ills.
Speaking at the well-attended event, Deaconess Oborevwori urged the royal mothers to serve as role models by mentoring the younger generation and actively combating drug abuse, gender-based violence and other vices threatening the moral fabric of society.
She particularly drew attention to the ongoing 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, describing it as a global call to action that must resonate at the grassroots.
“Let us use our revered positions to drive meaningful change in our various communities. Our voices and actions can end the silence around gender-based violence and protect our children from the scourge of drug abuse,” she said.

The First Lady equally stressed the importance of political participation, charging the women to mobilise others, especially fellow women, to obtain their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) ahead of future elections.
“Your influence as mothers and queens is enormous. Help our people register to vote so that our collective voice will count in deciding the future of Delta State and Nigeria,” she added.
The event featured goodwill messages, cultural displays and presentation of gifts to the royal wives in appreciation of their support for the Renewed Hope Initiative and YOU MATTER Charity Foundation pet projects of the First Lady.
