Delta First Lady, Tobore Oborevwori supports 500 families with essential food items

Wife of the Governor of Delta State, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, through the You Matter Charity Foundation, has officially launched a quarterly food distribution initiative for women and vulnerable individuals across the state.

The maiden edition of the initiative took place on Tuesday, at the Dome Event Center, Asaba, where various food items were distributed to over 500 women and persons with disabilities (PWDs) from different parts of Delta State.

Deaconess Oborevwori emphasized the importance of food banks in addressing food insecurity, supporting families, and ensuring equitable access to nourishment. She acknowledged the support of the Delta State Government in making the gesture possible, describing it as timely and impactful.

“I’m not here to bore you with too much talk but to let you know that this food bank initiative is not a one-off event. It will be held quarterly, as initiated by the Nigerian Governors’ Spouses Forum,” she noted.

“I commend the forum for this thoughtful approach to supporting the well-being of Nigerians.”

She also expressed gratitude to her husband, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for prioritizing the welfare of Deltans through the MORE Agenda.

In separate remarks, the Wife of the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Emu, and the Delta State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Princess Pat Ajudua, praised the First Lady’s initiative and the broader vision behind it.

Also speaking at the event, the lawmaker representing Oshimili South Local Government Area, Hon. Bridget Anyafulu, applauded the humanitarian efforts of the Governors’ spouses, describing the initiative as aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

She encouraged the beneficiaries and women across Delta State to embrace small-scale farming and home gardening to support food production and healthy eating, practices already championed by Her Excellency at the Government House in Asaba.
