The Delta State Government has approved the construction of the Inam–Abbi Access Road in Ndokwa West Local Government Area, reinforcing ongoing efforts to expand infrastructure and improve quality of life across rural communities under the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
The project is part of the state’s wider rural development strategy, which prioritizes improving transportation networks, stimulating local economies, and ensuring equitable development across all regions in line with the Governor’s MORE Agenda. Once completed, the access road will provide a reliable and efficient link between the Inam and Abbi communities, two agrarian hubs that contribute significantly to food production and local trade in the Ndokwa region.
For years, residents and traders in the area have faced challenges due to poorly accessible routes, particularly during the rainy season when transportation becomes difficult and costlier. By upgrading the roadway, the state government aims to reduce these transportation barriers, facilitate faster and safer travel, and support the movement of agricultural goods to markets within and outside the local government area.
The project’s objectives include improving mobility for residents, boosting market access, encouraging commercial exchange, and supporting community-level enterprises.
Local stakeholders say the road will also help enhance access to essential services such as healthcare, education, and emergency response, while fostering stronger social and economic ties between communities.
Community leaders have welcomed the development, describing it as a step toward unlocking the economic potential of the entire zone. They expressed confidence that the improved road will attract investment, empower local farmers, and create new opportunities for small businesses and youth employment.
