Delta Governor Unveils New DESTMA Vehicles, Inaugurates Intelligence and Provost Units to Boost Traffic Management

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori today unveiled newly acquired and refurbished operational vehicles for the Delta State Traffic Management Authority (DESTMA) and officially inaugurated the agency’s Intelligence and Provost Units, marking a major step forward in improving traffic management across the state.

The unveiling and inauguration ceremony, held at the DESTMA Headquarters in Asaba, was represented by the Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Onoriode Agofure. Speaking at the event, Hon. Agofure highlighted the strong collaboration between DESTMA and the Ministry of Transport, describing both institutions as “one in advancing the state’s transport vision.”

He noted that the new vehicles would enhance fleet mobility, while the newly established Intelligence and Provost Units would play a critical role in promoting compliance, discipline, and road safety in Delta State.

In his remarks, DESTMA Director General, Hon. Benjamin Okiemute, emphasized that these initiatives are designed to enforce a disciplined driving culture, improve operational coordination, and strengthen proactive surveillance and rapid response throughout the state’s transport system.

Governor Oborevwori’s unveiling of the vehicles and the inauguration of the units underscores the state government’s commitment to modernizing traffic management, enhancing safety on the roads, and ensuring a more efficient transport environment for residents and commuters alike.
