Delta Govt Approves Otovwodo Flyover on Ughelli-Patani Road

In a move to enhance mobility and safety in the Ughelli axis, the Delta State Government has approved the construction of the Otovwodo Junction Flyover along the Ughelli-Patani Road, with a compressed timeline to ensure rapid completion.

The project which aligns with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s M.O.R.E. Agenda—Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security— prioritises infrastructure upgrades across the state.

The flyover approval is a strategic response to persistent heavy traffic at Otovwodo Junction, one of Delta’s busiest corridors.

Once completed, it is expected to deliver shorter travel times for commuters, smoother movement of goods along this vital commercial route, reduced congestion, and improved junction safety. These improvements are projected to boost economic activities in surrounding communities, fostering growth in trade and local businesses.

“This is more than just a bridge; it’s a lifeline for Deltans,” a government source emphasising how the initiative reflects the administration’s commitment to transforming transportation networks.

The flyover will address longstanding bottlenecks that have hampered daily commutes and logistics, particularly for traders and farmers reliant on the Ughelli-Patani axis.

The approval comes amid a broader wave of development under the M.O.R.E. Agenda, which is reshaping Delta State. From Warri and Enerhen to Agbor and Sapele, and across all 25 Local Government Areas, residents are witnessing unprecedented progress.

Roads previously in disrepair are being rehabilitated, long-delayed bridges are materialising, flyovers are emerging, classrooms are being revitalised, educational institutions strengthened, and agriculture bolstered with fresh initiatives.

Some Deltans who spoke to our correspondent voiced strong approval, with many hailing the changes as tangible proof of effective governance.

“This is progress we can see, feel, and trust—a new Delta unfolding before our eyes,” said a resident of Ughelli, echoing widespread sentiment.

Governor Oborevwwori reiterated that the M.O.R.E agenda is not mere rhetoric but a blueprint for real transformation, urging citizens to support ongoing projects for sustained development.
