Delta govt approves payment of 2023 reviewed Consolidated Salary Structure (CONTISS) in tertiary institutions

The Delta State Government has approved the implementation of the 2023 reviewed Consolidated Salary Structure (CONTISS) in all the State owned tertiary institutions.

Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori gave the approval on Tuesday, at the Government House, Asaba during a meeting between Government officials and representatives of the Joint Action Committee of the Labour Unions.

According to Comrade Izu Monday (Chairman, SSANU-DELSU) who led the eight man team of labour leaders to the meeting, “Gov Oborevwori directed that the approval of the 2023 reviewed Consolidated Salary Structure (CONTISS) which is in line with the MORE agenda of his administration, should take effect from June, 2024 and the new structure be paid in the August salary along with the arrears of June and July”.

Oborevwori had earlier in the week prevailed on the Unions which included the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Delta State University, Abraka and University of Delta (UNIDEL) Agbor, National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT), Delta State University, Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU), Mosogar, Senior Staff Union in Colleges of Education (SSUCOEN), Warri and Mosogar, Non-Academic Staff Union and Associated Institutions (NASU), DELSU, UNIDEL, Mosogar, Ogwashi-Uku, Burutu and Otefe-Oghara and Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Polytechnics (SSANIP) Ogwashi-Uku, and Burutu to suspend a warning strike declared on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 over the non implementation of the 2023 reviewed Consolidated Tertiary Institutions Salary Structure (CONTISS).

The Government’s Special Team led by Gov Oborevwori had the Head of Service, Mr. Reginald Bayoko; Accountant General of the State, Mrs Joy Enwa; Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof Nyerhovwo Johnbull Tonukari; Vice Chancellor, Delta State University, Prof. Andy Egwunyenga and the Functioning Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Mrs Odobo in attendance. While the Unions’ team, consisted of Comrades Monday Izu (Chairman, SSANU-DELSU and Leader of the team), Andrew Ayewumi (NASU), Henry Obeh (ASUP), Emeke Owabor (SSANIP), Ovocity Eghworo (NAAT), Eric Erhikpokpor (SSUCOEN), Richard Igbunu (COEASU) and Paul Opone (ASUU-DELSU).
