Delta Govt Confirms DSC Roundabout Flyer 98% Complete

In a move marking a vital step towards the completion of one of the landmark projects in the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori-led administration, the Delta State government on Monday, February 9, carried out a pre-handover inspection of the DSC Roundabout Flyover in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area.

The Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Reuben Izeze, during the inspection tour, accompanied by the Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Val Arenyeka and other members of the government delegation, alongside officials of the project contractor, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc., noted that the flyover component of the project is near 98% completed.

Speaking with journalists present during the visit, Izeze clarified that the exercise was only a pre-handover inspection to assess the quality and level of work done on the flyover project before the final inspection and handover to the Delta state government.

The commissioner explained that their presence at the project site was at the behest of Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, who wanted observations noted ahead of the final inspection and formal handover.

The government delegation proceeded from the Agbarho axis of the flyover through to the Effurun axis.

The DSC Roundabout Flyover is expected to relieve traffic congestion across major areas in the metropolis.

Already at the current 98% completion stage, the flyover is delivering improved traffic flow between the twin cities of Effurun, Warri and surrounding areas, remarkably reducing travel time, increasing road safety, and enhancing economic activities.

The project is expected to further boost the movement of people, goods and agricultural produce across Delta Central and surrounding communities.

The Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Val Arenyeka, who was also part of the delegation, emphasised the importance of the flyover and the associated road networks to the agricultural value chain of the state.

Arenyeka reiterated the importance of the project in aiding the smooth transportation of local food produce from neighbouring farming communities like Ughelli and Abraka to urban centres.
