The Delta State Ministry of Urban Renewal has expressed commitment to partner with other states in the country to enhance its urban development initiatives and position Delta cities on a global platform.
This was revealed by the State Commissioner for Urban Renewal, Engr Michael Anoka, during a meeting with the Lagos State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development in Lagos, on Friday, February 16, 2024.
According to Engr Anoka, Delta cities are rapidly expanding and transforming into bustling commercial centres and tourist destinations. However, they face modern-day urban challenges, and as such, the administration of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the Governor of Delta State, is investing heavily in urban development initiatives to upgrade its cities to meet modern-day standards in Nigeria and the world at large.
Engr Anoka further stated that the decision of the Delta State Ministry of Urban Renewal to partner with the Lagos State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development is aimed at creating a working synergy, exchanging ideas, and development plans, and sharing strategies to tackle urban development challenges.
This partnership seeks to establish cooperation between both state ministries since urban development is a critical focus of the Delta State Governor’s administration.
In response, Dr. Olayinka Abiodun Olumide, the Honourable Commissioner of the Lagos State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, expressed his willingness to collaborate with the Delta State Ministry of Urban Renewal.
He emphasized the importance of a seamless working relationship between both state’s ministries to achieve desired goals.
