Delta State Government has described the recent claims of marginalisation by Udu Local Government Area as “misguided”, reaffirming its commitment to inclusive governance.
Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, made the statement, on Tuesday, addressing the recent protests in Udu Local Government Area, Delta State.
Flanked by key media aides including the Chief Press Secretary to the Delta Governor, Sir Festus Ahon, Director-General of the State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr. Fred Latimore, and Executive Assistant on Public Enlightenment, Mr. Olisa Ifeajika, accused certain individuals of sponsoring discontent to distort facts and incite division.
He further noted that the Delta State Government has been fair in distributing projects across all 25 local government areas in the state, including Udu.
The commissioner highlighted servral key projects that the Oborevwori led administration has embarked on in the Udu Local Government Area, which includes over 27.8km of roads and 24km of drains constructed or rehabilitated, connections to Uvwie, Ughelli South, and Warri South-West.
Speaking further on education sector, Aniagwu said that the government is renovating schools across the LGA, including Ogbe-Udu, Okolor Waterside, Ekete, Owhrode, and Aladja. A state-of-the-art JAMB ICT Centre is under construction at Ogbe-Udu Secondary School, while other schools are receiving classroom blocks, toilets, and new furniture.
The commissioner however, urged residents, especially youths, to remain vigilant against misinformation and to recognise the tangible developments in their communities.
