Delta State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, has constituted a verification committee to screen all political appointees in the state public service as part of routine administrative measures to ascertain their status and ensure accurate records.
The physical verification exercise which aims at confirming the current standing of political appointees, will also produce a comprehensive report on the outcomes and handle any incidental assignments related to the process.
A statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr Kingsley Eze Emu, explained that the periodic checks are necessary to account for exits arising from natural causes, migration, or other factors, thereby maintaining an up-to-date database of serving appointees.
The committee is chaired by Dr Odinigwe Odigwe, Honourable Commissioner for Science and Technology with Chief Onoriode Sunday, State Director of Protocol in the Office of the Governor; Mr Oghoro Augustine Ede, Executive Assistant on Public Service Matters in the Office of the Governor; Mrs Athora Roseline, Deputy Director/Accounts in the Office of the Accountant General; and Mr Felix Irevwi, Deputy Director/Administration in the Office of the SSG, who serves as secretary.
The screening, spanning 21 days, will follow a zonal schedule based on federal constituencies and local government areas:

According to the statement, the venue for the entire exercise is the Press Centre (beside the Chapel), Government House, Asaba.
The statement urged all political appointees in the state to appear for the verification as scheduled, emphasizing compliance as a key administrative requirement.
It added that the initiative underscores Governor Oborevwori’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and efficient public service management in line with his administration’s agenda.
