Delta govt urged to tackle herdsmen menace in Ukwuani

The Delta State government has been urged to address the issue of herdsmen in ukwani Local Government Area.

This call was made by members of the Ndokwa Committee for Growth and Development, led by Chief Mrs. Chinyonye Aliyu, during a meeting with the Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme to discuss security and development issues in the Ndokwa/Federal constituency.

Mrs Aliyu also called for the urgent intervention of the State government concerning communities in Edo State allegedly encroaching on lands in Ukwuani Local Government Area with the backing of the Edo State government.

Responding, the Deputy Governor, promised the delegation that the administration of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori is committed to creating a peaceful and prosperous environment for all Deltans especially in ukwani Local government area.

He stated, “I want to assure you that this administration, led by His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, is ensuring that every nook and cranny of Delta State, Ukwuani inclusive, enjoys peace and prosperity.”

Speaking on boundary issues with neighboring states, Onyeme urged communities to remain calm as the National Boundary Commission works will properly demarcate boundaries so as to prevent any breakdown of law and order.

The meeting was attended by Hon. Charles Emetulu, representing Ndokwa West Constituency at the Delta State House of Assembly, Prince Emeka Osamuta from Ndokwa East, Chief Fidelis Tilije (Commissioner for Finance), Sir Christopher Osakwe (Deputy Chief of Staff), and other government officials.
