The Delta State Government has encouraged qualified young people across the state to apply for the Nigerian Army’s 91 Regular Recruits Intake (RRI), describing it as a solid opportunity for stable employment.
This was made known in a statement by the Director General of the Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, who explained that the online application opened on March 30 and will close on May 17, 2026.
According to the government, interested applicants should complete their registration through the official Nigerian Army recruitment portal within the specified timeframe.
The statement outlined key requirements for applicants, noting that candidates must be single Nigerian citizens by birth and provide valid National Identification Number (NIN) and Bank Verification Number (BVN) printouts. Applicants are also expected to be physically, medically, and mentally fit, with no criminal record.
Oghenesivbe added that candidates must present acceptable birth certificates issued by the National Population Commission, hospitals, or local government authorities, along with proof of their state of origin.
On the academic side, applicants are required to have at least four credits, including English Language, in no more than two sittings in exams such as WAEC, GCE, NECO, NABTEB, or NBAIS. Those applying as tradesmen or women must also possess relevant professional qualifications.
In terms of physical standards, male applicants must be at least 1.68 metres tall, while female applicants must be no shorter than 1.65 metres. Age requirements stipulate that non-trades applicants should be between 18 and 22 years old, while trades applicants must not be older than 26 years by December 30, 2026.
The government highlighted that a career in the military offers steady pay and pension benefits, aligning with its job creation drive under the MORE Agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
To support applicants, the state has also provided help desk lines through its Awareness Creation Committee on Youth Enlistment into Military and Paramilitary Services, offering guidance and technical assistance.
Ultimately, the government urged all eligible Delta youths to seize the opportunity and apply before the deadline.
