The Head of Service of Delta State, Dr (Mrs) Mininim Oseji, has charged directors in the state’s civil service to prioritise teamwork, integrity and adaptability in order to build public confidence and trust.
Dr Oseji gave the charge in Asaba during a one-day seminar themed “Enhancing Leadership and Administrative Capacity in the Civil Service.”
She stressed that a modern, responsive civil service capable of meeting 21st-century governance challenges must be driven by leaders who embrace change, uphold ethical standards and promote collaboration among staff.
“Directors must lead with integrity, adapt to new realities and foster teamwork to inspire confidence and trust among citizens,” the Head of Service declared.
The capacity-building event featured sessions on key topics including leadership management, artificial intelligence applications in public administration, and effective time management.
Participants engaged actively in discussions aimed at repositioning the Delta State public service for greater efficiency and service delivery.
Resource persons at the seminar included Dr Afolabi Adun, who spoke on essential leadership qualities; Engineer Meshach Ozah; and Mr Oladele Shadare, who shared practical insights on time management and the integration of AI tools to enhance administrative processes.
In his remarks, Permanent Secretary Mr Kingsley Olomukoro commended Dr Oseji for her sustained commitment to staff development and capacity building.
He also praised the Centre for Education Development for organising a well-structured programme with impactful lectures.
The seminar forms part of ongoing efforts by the Delta State government to transform the civil service into a dynamic institution responsive to citizens’ needs and aligned with contemporary governance demands.
