Prominent political and traditional figures congregated at All Saints’ Cathedral Church in Ughelli today to pay tribute to the late Olorogun Dr. Oskar Ibru, JP.
A respected business magnate, philanthropist, and elderstateman whose death sparked widespread mourning across Delta State.
In attendance were state and national high profile individuals including Governor Sheriff Oborevwori; former Delta Governor, Chief James Ibori; ex-Senate Deputy President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege; as well as Senate representative, Senator Ede Dafinone.
Also present was Seyi Tinubu, among other dignitaries, lawmakers, community elders, and social figures. Their presence underscored the deep respect Ibru commanded across political and social divides.
During the service, speakers extolled Ibru’s long history of philanthropy, community development and leadership, celebrating a “life well-lived.”
Attendees described him as a “true son of the soil” whose contributions to education, infrastructure, and social welfare left lasting impact on communities throughout Delta.
As mourners gathered in tribute, many reflected on his legacy of generosity and commitment to public service.
The memorial service which held at All Saints’ Cathedral, featured prayers for the bereaved family and calls for his legacy to continue through community service.
Condolences poured in from all walks of life, highlighting his role in supporting underprivileged communities, fostering unity, and championing development for Delta State.
As Delta State bids farewell to a man of great influence and kindness, his passing has been widely regarded as a major loss to both the private and public sectors.
Many vow to carry forward his commitment to progress, philanthropy, and compassionate leadership, which is a fitting tribute to the memory of Olorogun Dr. Oskar Ibru, JP.
