Delta LG polls: PDP will reject manipulated results – Oborevwori

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has said that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, would reject any results that were not genuine in the forthcoming local government elections in the state.

Oborevwori spoke on Wednesday in Asaba, during a mega rally where two chairmanship candidates of the All Progressives Party, APC, and a former member representing Isoko South Constituency I at the State House of Assembly, Okuemute Essien, defected to the PDP.

The governor, who said he believes in free, fair and credible elections, warned that there would be no room for result writing in the polls.

“In my election, those who planned to write results, were they able to do that? Any result that is not genuine will be rejected,” he said.

While thanking the party candidates and leaders for following his footsteps by going round all communities, units and wards to campaign for the election, he said: “As you leave here today, do road shows, tell the people to come with their Permanent Voters Cards, PVCs. It is the PVCS that can make you become Chairman-elect, Councillor-elect.”

Expressing delight at the large turnout of party faithful from across the state who attended the rally, the Governor said his focus since he assumed office was to give good governance to the people.

“For one year now, l have not been criticizing opposition parties; l am concerned with what l can do for Deltans because I am governor for all Deltans”, he said.

While welcoming the decampees into the PDP’s fold, Oborevwori thanked the party faithful for their continued support for the PDP, assuring that their love for the party would not be in vain.

Immediate past Governor of the State, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa noted that the PDP had been campaigning vigorously across all units, wards and local government areas while other political parties had been asleep.

He said: “After July 13, some parties will be saying we wrote results, but when we are campaigning, they are at home. We have been campaigning in all units, wards and local government areas but they are sleeping.”
