Delta MDAs Defend 2026 Allocations, Appeal For More

Delta State Commissioner of Transport, Mr Onoriode Agofure has given an assurance that his ministry will execute more projects following 100 percent increase in 2026 allocation when compared with the outgoing year.

Mr Agofure stated this in Asaba while defending his ministry budget proposals for 2026, before the inter-ministeral committee for budget defense coordinated by the ministry of economic planning.

While highlighting some of his ministry’s achievements in the outgoing year, Agofure said , ”We rehabilitated and built four or five jetties. Currently, there is a CNG station in Warri, fully completed, and about to be commissioned. The one in Asaba is almost completed. Recently, we unveiled automatic number plate regulation technology”

” We are going to embark on more landmark projects. The Delta State Ministry of Transport in collaboration with the Federal Government is going to build a massive urban modern terminal in Warri, and we will work towards replicating that in Asaba, and across the state.

”We have 100 percent increase in our budget proposal. It tells a story that the ministry of transport is doing well. We achieved more than fifty percent of our budget performance in the outgoing year”, Agofure stated

Delta State Commissioner, Bureau for Special Duties,  Ejiro Etacherure said about three billion naira had been proposed for the ministry next year .

He said more fire stations would be built next year.

”We have to build more fire stations. We have achieved a lot . We were able to renovate some dilapidated fire stations, and also rescued many victims. We built a new fire station at Orerokpe, using solar system without generator . It’s a modern one. Our ministry performance this year is above 70 percent”, Etacherure stated.

The Delta State Commissioner, Bureau for Special Duties revealed that about five hundred thousand naira had been earmarked for climate change  disasters management, including flooding.

Meanwhile, Delta State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Renewal, Engr Michael Ifeanyi Anoka has said priority would be focused on digitalizing the ministry to enhance revenue generation and block linkages.

Anoka who spoke to newsmen shortly after defending his ministry’s  2026 budget estimates noted with delight that the ministry performed well in the outgoing year .

”The budget defense was very perfect, it’s a huge success, our focus is on digitalization of the ministry to boast revenue generation and block linkages.”

“You know, because of inflation in the country implementation has been very difficult, but relatively we have done well, and we will do better in 2026.”

” We are thinking of digitizing the ministry approval process in terms of getting development”, Anoka stated.

On her part, the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Community Support Services and Girl Child Development, Ms Orode Uduaghan hinted that a World Bank funding program for girl child education would be implemented in the state next year.

Uduaghan stated, ”Next year, something very peculiar that we have been working on, that we are hoping that will be implemented is the World Bank funding for Agile, which is for child education. That will boost education system across the state. It will uplift children in secondary schools by the time it is launched launched in the first quarter of next year”

She said her ministry had been uplifting the vulnerable , helping the girl child, and doing  empowerment programs. You know, next year is a very sensitive here so we really need to hit the grassroots and hit it running .

On the performance of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Community Support Services and Girl Child Development, Uduaghan stated, ”We we’ve done our best so far so good as God will have it.  To the best of our abilities, we did well.  I mean just continuation,  and improving on what we had done last year.

She said her ministry always reach out to hard to reach areas, including rural areas to assist vulnerable girls . Our ministry is very particular about going to those areas, to support those girls, and make sure that they get the dividend of the democracy that they voted for. So we go around, it’s not just urban areas, whether  villages or rural communities,
