Delta pilgrims urged to uphold integrity in Israel, Jordan

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has called on Christian pilgrims from the state to conduct themselves with dignity and honor while in Israel and Jordan, emphasizing that the pilgrimage is a sacred journey rather than a mere excursion.

Speaking at a one-day orientation seminar at the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Secretariat in Asaba, the governor, represented by the Commissioner for Bureau of Special Duties, Mr. Etacherure Ejiro Terry, urged the intending pilgrims to be worthy ambassadors of Christ and the state’s MORE Agenda. He also advised them to pray fervently for the restoration of Nigeria’s lost glory and the church of God.

Governor Oborevwori cautioned against any attempt to abscond or engage in unholy activities, stressing that the essence of the pilgrimage is spiritual renewal and a deeper connection to faith.

The Chairman of the Delta State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Senior Apostle Okorote Sylvanus, underscored the significance of this year’s pilgrimage, noting that it marks the first since the ceasefire agreement between Israel and warring nations.

He disclosed that 250 pilgrims, excluding officials, would be airlifted to the Holy Land and commended Governor Oborevwori as the only governor in the South-South region who has fully sponsored pilgrims for the journey.

Chairman of CAN in Delta State, Rev. Lucky Osagbakhoe, and the Executive Secretary of the Pilgrims Welfare Board, Very Rev. Fr. Christopher Ekabo, assured the state government that the pilgrims would uphold moral standards and bring honor to Delta State and the Christian faith.

Themed “Pilgrimage as a Tool for Spiritual Renewal,” the seminar featured insightful discussions, including an overview of the pilgrimage process delivered by Senior Apostle Okorote Sylvanus.

As the Delta contingent prepares for their journey, expectations remain high that they will return spiritually rejuvenated, ready to share transformative testimonies that will inspire others in their faith.
