The Delta State Police Command has apprehended a community leader along with five others over their alleged involvement in sexual assaults linked to a local event in Ozoro, located in Isoko North Local Government Area.
The arrests came after disturbing videos surfaced online from Oramudu Quarters, reportedly showing young women being molested and sexually assaulted during the gathering.
In a statement released on March 20, 2026, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, said the Commissioner of Police, CP Aina Adesola, expressed deep concern and strongly condemned the incident, describing it as criminal, inhumane, and a serious violation of the victims’ rights and dignity.
The police disclosed that the event’s chief organiser, Chief Omorede Sunday, was arrested alongside four other suspects. They also confirmed that the head of the Oramudu community has been taken into custody in connection with the case.
The Commissioner has directed that the matter be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough investigation, while also ordering the deployment of tactical and investigative teams to track down and arrest all those involved.
The Command reiterated its strong stance against sexual violence, emphasizing that such acts are unacceptable under any circumstances.
It also urged victims and witnesses to come forward with helpful information, assuring them that their identities would be protected and handled with utmost professionalism.
CP Adesola further called on residents to stay calm, remain vigilant, and continue to obey the law, reaffirming the police’s commitment to safeguarding lives, protecting citizens’ rights, and ensuring justice is served.
The Command assured that anyone found guilty in connection with the incident will face prosecution in accordance with the law.
