The Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, has decorated a batch of newly elevated officers, charging them to uphold professionalism and integrity in the discharge of their duties.
The brief but symbolic ceremony, held at the Police Headquarters in Asaba on Tuesday, marked the promotion of officers from the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).
Addressing the officers after their decoration, CP Abaniwonda reminded them that their promotion was not only a recognition of past performance but also a call to higher responsibility.
He stressed that the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, deemed them worthy of the new ranks, and as such, they must redouble their efforts to justify the confidence reposed in them.
“The reward for hard work is more work,” the Commissioner declared, noting that leadership within the Force comes with greater accountability to both the Police hierarchy and the citizens they serve.
He urged the officers to demonstrate renewed dedication to fighting crime, protecting lives and property, and maintaining public trust.
Abaniwonda further emphasized that the promotions should inspire the officers to strengthen teamwork and professionalism, particularly at a time when the Command is intensifying efforts to combat criminality across the state.
The newly decorated officers, visibly elated, pledged their loyalty to the Force and expressed gratitude to the Police High Command for recognizing their contributions.
They also assured the Commissioner of their readiness to discharge their duties diligently in line with the mandate of the Nigeria Police Force.
The event was attended by senior officers, family members, and well-wishers, who joined in celebrating the milestone achievement.
