Delta Police Command Rolls Out Festive Season Security Plan, Assures Residents of Peaceful Celebrations

The Delta State Police Command has announced heightened security measures ahead of the Christmas and New Year festivities, reaffirming its commitment to maintaining peace and protecting lives and property across the state.

In an exclusive interview, Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, disclosed that the Command has intensified deployments in strategic locations to guarantee a safe holiday season for residents, visitors, and business owners. While noting that certain operational details remain confidential for security reasons, he stressed that the visible increase in police presence has already played a critical role in sustaining the relative peace recorded throughout 2025.

Abaniwonda commended Deltans for their cooperation and for sustaining a calm atmosphere during the year. He urged communities to remain vigilant and proactive in reporting suspicious behavior to security agencies. “If you see something, say something,” he emphasized, calling for continued unity and civic responsibility as the festive period approaches.

The Commissioner also praised the Delta State Government under Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for its steady support to security agencies. He highlighted security as a major pillar of the MORE Agenda, noting that close collaboration between the government and law enforcement has strengthened the state’s security architecture and created an environment conducive for economic growth and development.

Looking ahead to the holiday season, CP Abaniwonda extended warm wishes to all residents, business owners, and visitors, expressing hope for a peaceful Christmas and a prosperous 2026.

He assured the public that the Command remains fully prepared to safeguard communities throughout the festive period, reinforcing its resolve to ensure that celebrations across Delta State are free of crime and fear.
