Delta Police Investigate Alleged Sexual Abuse of Toddler by Mother

In a troubling case of child sexual abuse, the Delta State Police have reported that a mother is alleged to have abused her three-year-old daughter.

The case was revealed in a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter) by Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, on Tuesday.

According to the report, the abuse came to light after the child’s father noticed suspicious behavior while reviewing recent videos of his daughters and promptly reported his concerns to the police.

In the video attached to the statement, the mother allegedly admitted during an interview that the child had been sexually abused. According to the disclosure, the child’s hymen was broken, she tested positive for a sexually transmitted Disease (STD), and there were visible injuries to her genital area.

Bright Edafe called on parents to stay vigilant, highlighting the need to closely watch over their children and report any signs of abuse immediately. He stressed that prompt action is essential to protect children from further harm and to ensure that offenders are held accountable.

This case comes after a recent high-profile incident in Delta State, in which a father was accused of sexually abusing three of his daughters, underscoring the urgent need for stronger parental supervision, improved child protection, and increased awareness campaigns.
