Delta Police Quell False School Attack Report, Assure Residents of Safety

The Delta State Police Command has dismissed circulating rumours that bandits attacked Girls’ Secondary School, Utagba-Ogbe, Kwale.

The false report, which spread widely earlier today, caused panic in the community and led to several unverified online claims about gunshots and unrest around the school.

Responding quickly, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, Olufemi Abaniwonda, instructed the DCO of Kwale Division, SP Udofia Kufre, to lead a patrol team to the school for an on-the-spot assessment.

After meeting with the Vice Principal and security staff, the police confirmed that no incident took place. According to the Command, the scare resulted solely from misinformation circulated among students. Officers also inspected other schools in the Kwale area and found them calm, secure, and fully in session.

Parents who rushed to the school have been urged to remain calm, as the situation is completely under control.

The Commissioner of Police cautioned residents against spreading unverified information that could incite fear or disrupt school activities. He assured the public that the Command is well-equipped to respond quickly to any genuine threat.

He further advised school administrators to improve internal communication, report suspicious behaviour promptly to the nearest police station, and maintain close collaboration with local security groups.
