The Delta State Police Command has recorded major operational successes across Bomadi, and Ubeji communities, arresting multiple suspects involved in kidnapping and illegal arms trafficking in a series of coordinated raids that underscore the state’s renewed anti-crime drive.
According to a statement from the Command, the first operation occurred on October 30, 2025, at approximately 11:40 a.m., when the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ekpan Division, CSP Labe Joseph, received a distress call reporting a kidnapping incident behind the Ubeji Gas Plant. Acting swiftly, the DPO led a tactical team of detectives and patrol officers to the scene.
On arrival, the kidnappers, sensing the police presence, fled into an abandoned poultry building. The officers immediately surrounded the area, leading to the arrest of seven suspects identified as Felix Omone (33), Solomon Omone (29), Tony Eboye (34), Omone David (32), Jerry Omone (33), Godspower Omone (25), and Edewho Bomele (33) — all residents of Ubeji Community.
The police successfully rescued three male victims from Jeddo Community, who were reportedly abducted while working at a dredging site.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the victims had been ferried across a river as their captors demanded ransom under threat of death.
All victims have since been reunited with their families, while efforts continue to apprehend fleeing accomplices and recover the gang’s weapons.
In a separate operation the same day at 12:30 p.m., operatives from the Bomadi Division, led by CSP Adie Peter Bissong, in collaboration with the Bomadi Vigilante, intercepted a motorcycle along the Bomadi–Tuomo Road. The rider, who appeared suspicious, was conveying a 62-year-old woman later identified as Charter Timide.
Upon searching a sack in her possession, officers discovered 178 live cartridges neatly concealed for illegal distribution.
Under interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to purchasing the ammunition at Onitsha Main Market for delivery to Tuomo Community.
The suspect and exhibits have been transferred to the State Police Headquarters in Asaba for further investigation to determine potential links with arms traffickers or criminal syndicates.
Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, commended the responding officers for their vigilance, professionalism, and rapid action. He reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to eradicating kidnapping, armed robbery, and illegal arms proliferation across Delta State under the proactive security framework of the current administration.
