Political parties have been given between Sunday May 5 and Sunday May 19 to conduct their primaries to enable them democratically nominate their candidates, as the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission, DSIEC, fixes Saturday July 20 for local government election in the state.
According to a timetable released Tuesday by the Chairman, Delta State Independent Electoral Commission, Sir Dr. R. J. A. Agbaike, collection of Forms DSIEC 001 and DSIEC 002 by Political parties, will take place Wednesday 15th May.
Below are details of the proposed timetable
“In exercise of the powers conferred on it by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended) and the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission Law, 2017 (as amended), the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission (hereinafter referred to as the “Commission” hereby issues this Timetable and schedule of Activities for the Chairmanship, Vice Chairmanship and Councillorship Elections in Delta State:
ACTIVITY
“1. i. Meeting with Registered Political Parties and other stakeholders;
ii. Issuance of Notice of Local Government Elections; and
(iii) Release of 2024 Local Government Election Guidelines and Time Table

“2. Conduct of Party Primaries by Political Parties
