Delta Projects will Continue Despite 2027 Political Activities – Aniagwu

Delta State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, has assured residents that governance in the state will not be affected by the growing political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He noted that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has put measures in place to ensure that service delivery remains uninterrupted.

Aniagwu gave this assurance while speaking on The Morning Show on Arise TV. He explained that the directive asking political appointees who intend to contest elective positions to resign is meant to promote fairness, prevent undue advantage, and keep government operations running smoothly.

According to him, the governor has instructed all appointees planning to run in the 2027 elections to step down in line with the Electoral Act, which clearly outlines timelines for public office holders seeking elective positions.

He added that allowing appointees to remain in office while pursuing political ambitions could create room for abuse of power, including access to state resources and structural advantages over other candidates. The directive, he said, is therefore necessary to ensure a level playing field.

Aniagwu also emphasized that Governor Oborevwori remains focused on governance despite the political season, noting that project execution and commissioning will continue without disruption. He revealed that several projects have already been scheduled for commissioning as the administration approaches its third anniversary, reflecting its commitment to development.

Speaking on the state’s political landscape, the commissioner said the governor has encouraged inclusiveness and fairness among stakeholders, helping to maintain unity and stability within the party.

He pointed out that the transparent conduct of ward, local government, state, and zonal congresses has strengthened trust and ensured peace among party members.

Aniagwu further noted that Governor Oborevwori’s leadership style particularly his focus on prudent management of resources and timely project delivery has helped position Delta State as one of the most stable and financially disciplined states in the country.
