Delta ready to host and defend National Youth Games title

Five days to the commencement of the seventh National Youth Games, Team Delta says it has intensified its preparations ahead of the event to be held at the Stephen Keshi International Stadium, Asaba.

The athletes have been in camp and going through rigorous training by their coaches as the six-time champions of the National Youth Games look to maintain their dominance in the cadet sports meet.

Team Delta have won every edition of the National Youth Games since its inception in 2013 and are favourites to win the age grade yearly sports fiesta again.

According to Project Manager, Media, Publicity and Mobilisation of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), Comrade Moses Etu, the team does not want to leave any stone unturned in delivering another title triumph.

The former chairman of Warri Wolves Football Club said that the athletes are being put in top shape to defend their title successfully, while assuring the athletes that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has put in place everything needed for their success, asserting that their welfare remained paramount to the Governor.

He enjoined the athletes to remain steadfast as the chairman of the State Sports Commission, Chief Tonobok Okowa and management of the Commission were committed to giving them the necessary fillip to further enhance their careers.

YourCitiNews earlier reported that the Seventh National Youth Games was set to begin on September 20 with the opening ceremony to September 30 at the Stephen Keshi International Stadium, Asaba.
