Delta Scales Up Food Production with D-CARES Input Support

Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has reaffirmed agriculture as a key pillar of the state’s economy, pledging continued support for farmers through the Delta COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (D-CARES) programme.

Speaking at the 5th tranche of input distribution in Owa-Ofie, Ika North East, the governor — represented by Economic Planning Commissioner and State CARES Steering Committee Chair, Sonny Ekedayen — said the scheme provides critical inputs, builds capacity, and strengthens food security.

Seventy farmers, including 40 in poultry and 30 in maize production, received supplies.

Agriculture Commissioner Val Areyinka noted the initiative’s impact on market food supply despite sector challenges, while Chief Political Strategist Festus Okubor urged beneficiaries to maximise the opportunity.

The event, coordinated by D-CARES State Coordinator Dr. Patience Ogbewe, featured cultural performances and expressions of gratitude from recipients.
