Delta State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has erupted in celebration following the swearing-in of two illustrious fellows from his constituency as High Court Judges, describing their elevation as a “moment of immense pride” for the state.
Justices Jereoma Sam-Oligida and Irene Boeye Ukuli were among six new judges sworn into the Delta State High Court by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in a colourful ceremony at the Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba.
The fresh appointees, who took their oaths of office pledging unwavering commitment to justice, integrity, and impartiality, join Justices Otite Jonah Akpobaro, Otome Benjamin Adamidenyo, and others in bolstering the state’s judiciary.
In a glowing congratulatory message issued through his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, Speaker Guwor hailed the duo’s rise to the Bench as richly deserved recognition of their “unwavering commitment to the rule of law, professional excellence, and impeccable integrity.”
“I am proud of my constituents’ elevation to this esteemed position,” Guwor declared. “Their dedication to justice and public service stands as a shining testament to their character and expertise.”
The Speaker, representing Warri South West Constituency, charged the new Lordships to treat their appointments as a “sacred trust,” urging them to dispense justice without fear or favour while upholding the sanctity of the Constitution.
“Your new role demands deeper service to humanity,” he emphasised. “Remain beacons of hope by ensuring fairness, equity, and the rule of law prevail at all times.”
