The Delta State Sports Commission has assured Ese Brume, who recently survived a car crash in the United States, of its support as she recuperates from the injuries she sustained from the accident.
Brume, an Olympics bronze medalist, was involved in a car accident, which damaged her car beyond repair.
The Chairman of Delta State Sports Commission, Mr. Onoriode Oborevwori, while reacting to the athlete’s miraculous escape from a near death experience, said the Commission was solidly behind her in these times.
Oborevwori said that the long jumper had remained a shining light for Team Delta since she broke into the limelight in 2012. The Sports Commission Chairman said that Brume has never reneged from representing Delta State or Nigeria, adding that she has continued to blaze the trail in the international scene where she has become a four time African champion and an Olympic bronze medallist, as well as World champion in women’slong jump.
He also assured Team Delta athletes that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration was committed to their welfare, saying that the state government will not relent in attending to their welfare and plight.
Speaking in the same vein, the Director General of the State Sports Commission, Mr. Festus Ohwojero, assured Brume of Delta’s continued support and prayed God for a swift recover.
Ohwojero prayed that Brume recover on time to be available at the forthcoming National Sports Festival in Abeokuta, stressing that she had always been an inspiration to the younger athletes in the state.
Although the Sports Commission’s helmsmen did not mention any financial support for the recovering Brume, it was learnt that a memo to that effect has been sent to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
