Delta State Approves Transport Grants for Senior Management Course Participants, Boosts Civil Service Capacity

In a bid to enhance professionalism, efficiency, and morale within the public service, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has approved transport grants for officers participating in the 21st edition of the Senior Management Course of the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON), currently ongoing in Asaba.

The gesture marks the first time in more than twenty years that participants in the programme will receive such support in Delta State, signaling a renewed commitment to worker welfare and capacity development under the Governor’s MORE Agenda.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the course, the Head of Service, Dr. (Mrs.) Mininim Oseji, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Governor, describing the approval as a landmark demonstration of his dedication to strengthening the state’s civil service. She noted that the support would not only ease the financial burden on participants but also serve as a strong motivation towards improved productivity and service delivery.

According to Dr. Oseji, the administration’s focus on manpower development remains central to building a modern and results-driven public service capable of driving effective governance and sustainable development. She urged participants to take full advantage of the training, emphasizing its relevance for career advancement and strategic leadership roles within the system.

Representing the Director-General of ASCON, Mrs. Funke Adepoju, the Director of Studies and Head of Public Administration Department, Dr. Ajueola Abiola, commended Delta State for its sustained collaboration with the institution. She noted that the partnership continues to yield tangible improvements in public sector effectiveness, institutional performance, and policy implementation outcomes.

Speaking on behalf of the participants, Mr. Anthony Iweze from the Office of the Accountant-General expressed gratitude to Governor Oborevwori and pledged that the group would translate the training into enhanced dedication and professional excellence.

The Oborevwori administration continues to prioritize a skilled, motivated, and performance-driven civil service—recognized as a key pillar for delivering good governance and long-term development across Delta State.
