The Delta State House of Assembly has passed the State’s 2026 Appropriation Bill into law, approving a total budget estimate of ₦1.729 trillion for the 2026 fiscal year.

The budget, which was considered and adopted by the lawmakers after detailed scrutiny, places strong emphasis on capital development and infrastructural expansion across the state.

A breakdown of the approved appropriation shows that ₦500 billion, representing 30 per cent, has been allocated to recurrent expenditure, covering personnel costs, overheads, and the day-to-day running of government.

Meanwhile, ₦1.229 trillion, accounting for 70 per cent of the total budget, has been earmarked for capital expenditure, underscoring the state government’s commitment to executing major development projects, improving infrastructure, and driving economic growth.

Lawmakers described the capital-heavy budget as a deliberate move aimed at accelerating development, creating jobs, and enhancing service delivery to residents of the state.
