Delta State Government Advocates Strict Adherence to Road Safety Rules

The Delta State Government has reiterated its unwavering commitment to supporting all efforts aimed at promoting road safety across the state.

The Honourable Commissioner for Transport, Mr. Onoriode Agofure who spoke through his representative, Director at the Ministry of Transport, Mr. Vincent Eyawarhe, commended the Delta State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Special Marshals Unit, for organizing the important engagement with members of the Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD), Warri Unit.

The commissioner charged the tanker drivers to strictly adhere to safety measures both on and off the roads, stressing the economic importance of their role in transporting petroleum products a vital component of Nigeria’s economy.

He emphasized key road safety pillars including safer vehicles, effective road usage, post-crash response, and routine vehicle maintenance, noting that transportation remains the lifeblood of any economy, especially in oil-producing states like Delta.

Also speaking at the event, the Delta State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Corps Commander Ogidan, delivered an in-depth lecture on preventive measures to curb the increasing rate of road crashes involving tankers and trailers.

He assured participants that more townhall engagements would be organized for other critical road users across the state.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Petroleum Tanker Drivers, Warri Unit, Ekpan, Comrade Sunday Okopie, expressed appreciation to both the FRSC and the state government for the sensitization efforts.
