Delta State Government has reaffirmed commitment to delivering critical projects in riverine communities for the socio- economic development of the areas.
The State Commissioner for the Directorate of Riverine Infrastructural Development, Mr Ebikeme Clark stated this in his office while commenting on the lauded giant developmental strides of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in riverine communities for the past two years.
The Delta State Commissioner said government would continue to invest in infrastructure in the riverine communities despite the high cost and difficulties of working in the creeks.
Mr Clark hinted that the administration of Governor Oborevwori recently approved the construction of Kolokolo–Tisun road in Warri North Local Government Area at a contract sum of nearly four billion naira, and the construction of internal roads in Kantu and Ijala, both in Warri South-West Local Government Area, at a combined cost of over one billion naira.

He said construction firms with proven capacity to mobilize to the creeks and deliver on schedule would be considered for the projects execution.
The Delta State Commissioner for Riverine Infrastructure Development who highlighted other ongoing works across the creeks, to include roads in Ubeji, Kpokodo, and Atete (Warri South LGA); Ogbe-Ijoh, Egileaten, Oporoza, Idiagbene, and Okerenkoko township roads (Warri South-West LGA); as well as projects in Patani LGA, hinted that the state government was addressing the agelong agitations of the communities gradually due to limited resources.
